Sublimation Heat Tape

The Sublimation Heat Tape is the unsung hero of every professional sublimation production setup — a small, lightweight, and inexpensive consumable that plays an outsized role in determining the quality and consistency of every single transfer you produce. Manufactured from premium polyimide film — the same high-performance synthetic material widely used in aerospace engineering, electronic circuit board protection, and industrial high-temperature insulation applications — this tape is engineered from the ground up to perform reliably under the extreme thermal and mechanical conditions of the sublimation heat pressing process without flinching, degrading, or leaving any trace behind.

The polyimide carrier film is backed with a high-temperature silicone adhesive that provides immediate, firm bonding to virtually any substrate surface — including the smooth cylindrical walls of sublimation white mugs, the uneven textured surfaces of coated hard substrates, the flat surface of polyester garments, mouse pads, tiles, phone cases, metal sheets, and ceramic plates — without requiring any surface preparation or primer. The silicone adhesive is pressure-sensitive, meaning it bonds on contact with light finger pressure alone and does not require heat activation, making it fast and effortless to apply during busy production sessions. The tape is rated for a full operating temperature range of -73°C to 260°C (-99°F to 500°F), meaning it will not melt, bubble, warp, become brittle, lose adhesion, or transfer any residue to your substrate or your equipment at any temperature your heat press machine is capable of producing — including the highest operating temperatures used for hard substrate and full-coverage garment applications.

Its primary function is to hold sublimation transfer paper absolutely still against the surface of the substrate during the entire press cycle, preventing the microscopic paper movement that is the root cause of ghosting — the blurred, double-image effect that ruins an otherwise perfect transfer. Because sublimation ink converts from solid to gas under heat and pressure and travels through the air before bonding to the substrate coating, even the slightest paper movement during or immediately after pressing can cause ink vapour to deposit in unintended areas, producing a ghost shadow around the edges of the design. Securing the transfer paper at both ends — and along any free edges — with the Sublimation Heat Tape before closing the press eliminates this risk entirely, consistently producing sharp, clean-edged transfers with professional results on every cycle. When used in combination with a 5-in-1 Combo Heat Press Machine for flat garment and hard substrate pressing, the tape ensures that even full-wrap, edge-to-edge designs transfer with complete precision regardless of the substrate shape or size being pressed. For cylindrical substrates such as sublimation white mugs pressed on dedicated mug press machines, wrapping the tape around both the top and bottom edges of the transfer paper before loading the mug into the press is the standard professional technique for achieving a perfectly aligned, ghost-free full-wrap mug print on every single press cycle.

The tape measures 10mm (0.39 inches) in width and 33 metres (108 feet) in length per roll — a generous length that provides exceptional value per roll and ensures the tape lasts through a significant volume of production before replacement is needed. The 10mm width is the industry-standard width for sublimation tape, narrow enough to apply precisely along edges and curves without obscuring critical design areas on smaller substrates, yet wide enough to provide a secure, reliable hold on larger flat and cylindrical surfaces. The tape tears cleanly and easily by hand with no tools required, and the roll dispenses smoothly and consistently without jamming, bunching, or tangling — keeping your workflow moving quickly during high-volume production runs.
